A tooth implant can be a great option to replace single, multiple or even all teeth. It may appear expensive but since it stays for decades or even life time it stays cheaper than other options.
What are the advantages of having dental implants?
You may want to replace your missing teeth for different reasons for some it may be a cosmetic reason for others it may be due to difficulty in eating while for some others it may be a way of life. For us it is a way to re-establish your chewing efficiency and help you smile better.
Cost of dental implant based restoration is lower than a Zirconia metal free bridge or denture. An average life of dental bridge is between 10-15 years but a dental implant is supposed to last life time.
What if I don’t replace my missing teeth?
If we ignore cosmetic aberration that a missing tooth can cause there are several deleterious effects of not replacing missing teeth like:
- Adjacent teeth move in to empty space causing malalignment of other teeth.
- Underlying bone loss continues and in future even denture may not be possible.
- If defect lies in smile zone-reason can be cosmetic.
- If multiple teeth are missing- you may have collapsed bite.
- You may have problem in speaking fluently.
- You may not be able to eat food comfortably.
Dental implant based treatment prevents all this from occurring at very early stage and gives you a functional and healthy bite.

What is a Dental Implant?
Dental implant is a small titanium screw which is fixed in jaw bone with specialised set of instruments and equipment. They are available in different lengths and circumference and which size will fit in your mouth is determined by radiographic scans or CBCT. This titanium screw fuses with jaw bone and now acts as an anchor for supporting crown part of artificial tooth.
Time required for complete dental implant treatment
Majority of Dental implant treatment can be completed in 3-6 months, in this time it is expected that implant will integrate with bone firmly and further prosthesis like crown or bridge or denture can than be placed over the implant/s. Implant procedure can be broken down in following phases for understanding timeline associated with implant treatment.
Day 1: Consultation, Examination, Xray / OPG / CT scan as per need, Treatment planning.
Day 2 or any other day as per mutual discussion: Implant surgery or any other additional procedure if required.
One week after implant placement: Suture removal and follow up and temporary crown or bridge if required.
Three months after implant placement: Xray and examination to check implant integration, if found healthy we proceed for next phase.
Final phase: This phase usually takes 5 to 7 working days during which final prosthesis consisting of bridge or denture or crown is given over the implant.
